The genre of the song is pop/classic rock, it’s amplified because he’s using a microphone, back beats, and I’m assuming an amplifier for the instruments. I think the main message the song is trying to get across is that if we were more understanding of each other place the world would be more peaceful. I assume it came out in the 1970’s.

  7. Cristian August 23, 2018

I interpret this music genre as pop rock. It’s slightly amplified when it comes to vocals and bass, but the other instrumentals are pure acoustics. As far as instruments, I hear a piano, drums, violin(?), and a bass. The message is about a perfect utopia in which the world is a better place, something you can only “imagine”. The date of this song is the early 1970’s I believe.

  13. Gaby August 23, 2018

I believe the genre of this song is alternative because of the ballad style of the song. What makes it alternative is the soft spoken lyrics with amplified piano and drums. The message of this song is wishful thinking of peace.

  14. Emily Morales August 23, 2018

The song Imagine by John Lennon can be categorized as a soft rock. Nothing too crazy, yet a smooth song with a positive view. The song can be viewed as amplified due to the technology used in the background. Such as the drums, piano, and most likely a guitar, not quite positive. The message has a positive impact, trying to move on with life with a good mindset. No hate, just positive vibes and happiness all around. The song seems to be around the 1970’s. Due to the clothing worn in the video.

You can hear drums, a piano, a bass guitar, and some violins.
The message delivered is peace but states that we do not live in it but rather we should strive towards it.
If I could guess the date I would say 1975.

  20. Noah Ramon August 23, 2018

The genre is classic rock. And by the sound of it appears to be an acoustic performance, since the presence of guitars, piano, drums, maybe a violin, and John Lennon’s voice is evident without electronic sound. The song has a simple message of liberal idealism in a very conservative timeline, as was the case in 1971 when the song was released.

I thought it maybe come from 1970.

  28. hector August 23, 2018

This music genre could be anywhere from classic rock to just slow acoustic in my opinion. Throughout the song you hear the playing of piano and sometimes the drums would be played in the back. This type of music gives a acoustic vibe. During the song he constantly says imagine there is no heaven or even countries. The message i get is that what if the world was without these things, would we be the same?what would people focus on? I believe this song was played during the 70’s

The instrument that I was able to perceive was the piano. The music genre I believe is pop but it could also be something else. This song is acoustic. I thought this video was really interesting because it had a peaceful setting and his beloved Yoko

  32. Joey Berrios August 30, 2018

I had the distinct pleasure of visiting the Beatles official museum in Liverpool, UK. While visiting memorabilia from the set and the actual piano used by John Lennon to record Imagine. This song was a milestone for revolutionary change in the 60’s, with John and Yoko posing to humanity that we could all actually live in unison if it weren’t for our own human tendencies to seek greed and destroy each other. It remains one of Lennon’s biggest solo accomplishments and a powerful message for anyone who connects with the song itself.
